The Virtual Marketing Department is run by Tim Chorlton who has over 35 years of experience working in Marketing and Branding. Tim ran a successful B2B Branding and Marketing Agency for over 20 years.

After selling his business he started a website business specialising in building Lead Generation websites.

He noticed that a lot of companies where struggling to find the time to do their own marketing,  didn’t have the budget to go to a full service agency nor the marketing knowledge to manage teams of freelancers – so he created the Virtual Marketing Department initially as a ‘bolt on service’ for his website customers but after many referrals, he decided to extend the service – the rest, as they say, is history.

Mostly B2B companies who want to have ongoing marketing activity, often to support their sales team, but don’t have either an in-house marketing resource or significant marketing budget to engage a full service marketing agency.

It’s usually down to your specific goals for your marketing activity, typically we work with clients to produce a marketing plan that will contain activities.

We then work out a suitable plan of activity to suit your budgets and deliver results.

Three days is the most popular plan, but we often up-front larger task such as building a new website or creating assets to support your marketing activities.

Much of the early work with customers is setting up marketing tools and creating content or other assets to support marketing, but once we have things up and running, we can (for example) begin to batch produce and schedule emails to send over the month. So half a day setting up emails can then start an automated campaign that can run for weeks, months or indefinitely depending on the type of campaign we are running.

So no, we probably wouldn’t create the same volume of work as a dedicated member of staff would, but we operate on the principle that ‘something is better than nothing’ and our aim is to get our clients to point where they either do employ someone in-house or increase sales sufficiently to migrate to a full service agency.

Not hidden, but, we can’t and don’t do ‘everything’, so for example, we might bring in one of our partners to manage a Google Adwords campaign on your behalf – this would be driving traffic to your website, and our team could work on converting those visitors to leads.

We might also suggest software to help ‘automate’ jobs or identify website visitors so we can email them for you.

None of these costs will be hidden, we will suggest a marketing plan that we believe will work to meet your goals and some activities such as pay-per-click advertising will have third party costs associated with them.

Ultimately you decide what parts you do and do not want to get up and running so you will be in full control of your budget.

Ideally yes. The idea of the plan allows us to operate without you needing to ‘micro manage us’ and it means we have a clear workload to follow.

 

Yes, but we insist on two months notice. This allows us time to wind down campaigns and hand over assets when necessary.
